Zomato is becoming unsustainable for small restaurant owners like us.
Zomato Deepinder Goyal

I started my entrepreneurial journey at 21. While most of my college friends were out partying, I was building my brand from scratch. Today, at 26, after years of hard work, I’m at a point where it feels like I’m running my business only so Zomato can earn — not me.

Let’s break it down:
A product listed at ₹100
Making cost: ₹30 (excluding rent, salaries, electricity, etc.)
Zomato pushes a mandatory 30% discount = ₹70
Then takes 26% commission on ₹70 = I get ₹51

To even be visible on the platform, I’m forced to spend ₹30+ per order on ads
What’s left? Pennies. Sometimes, not even that.

Every order from Zomato is literally making me burn money. For months now, I’ve been running at a complete loss — just to survive in the ecosystem they’ve created.

I’ll be sharing real weekly payout screenshot to show how this “system” is built for platforms to thrive while restaurants bleed.

I know I’m not alone in this. If you’re a fellow restaurant owner feeling the same pain, let’s unite. Enough is enough.

Zomato, it’s time to rethink your model. You’re killing the very businesses you rely on.

To my network: Please share this post so it reaches the right people. We deserve a fair playing field.
