Most of us have heard of Rainmatter, Rainmatter Health, Gruhas, WTF Fund, NKSquared etc which are focused on deploying capital into the Indian startup ecosystem.
But, Zero1 Media Network is a bit different — it is focused on deploying capital to allow creators to product high quality content for the Indian audience.
💡Rainmatter Health is trying to solve the GIGO problem in our diet. Zero1 is trying to solve the GIGO problem in our content feed.
In simple words, Zero1 provides financial & logistical support through its production partners (agencies) to allow the creator to focus on what they do best (creating!). This is different from a sponsorship model where a creator needs to meet certain performance criteria (e.g. views count).
Of course, in return, the creators do acknowledge the Zerodha's support in their content. And, you (as the consumer) get high quality content in your feed.
Many of your fav. content creators are part of the Zero1 Media Network:
(1) FoodPharmer ft Revant
(2) Think School ft Ganeshprasad
(3) The Money Mindset ft Sonia Shenoy
(4) Indian Silicon Valley (ISV) ft Jivraj
(5) Breakdown (ft Varun Mayya, Rohit Kamath, Achina Mayya & me! 😂)
I’ve been creating written content for 6 years. I was quite clueless as to how expensive it can be to run a high quality studio with staff (the bill for Breakdown goes into a couple of Lakhs per month — which Zero1 graciously covers!)
There are a LOT of behind the scene expenses — studio rent, equipment rent or CAPEX, power, salaries to a few editors & a production head etc.
🧠 Globally, a number of successful entrepreneurs are building out their own media networks by anchoring costs e.g.
(a) Colossus by Patrick O'Shaughnessy
(b) Turpentine by Erik Torenberg
S/o to Sagar (VP Marketing at Zerodha) who has been running the Zero1 initiative!
➡️ New age media is slowly & suddenly taking over. There is a shift from information to insight & from linear cable to personalized video feeds. Zero1 Media Network could one day be bigger than Star Network.
