The actual amount ranges between Rs.5 and Rs.80, Rs.30 being the average.
Two things that decides the payout.
- Content format : Shorts Vs. Long form video
- Content category - cooking Vs. Investment, decide the range.
On the other side, if you are running a campaign on YouTube, you, on average, pay Rs. 0.4 per ad view(CPV).
The actual CPV may vary from Rs. 0.12 for a large open targeted campaign to Rs.2 for a retargeting campaign for a smaller audience.
So, the equation is this.
The creator makes 3 paise per video view, and the advertiser pays 40 paise per ad view.
Now there is one factor that needs to be added.
Fill rate - Percentage of the video views leading to ad views. Based on my experience, this is very high for YT.
Might be closer to 80%.
For the sake of calculation, let's assume it as 60%.
So, the new equation is this.
The creator makes 3 paise per video view, and Google gets 24 paise per ad view.
Is that mean Google makes a 83% gross margin from YouTube?
Possible.
However, as per Google, it only takes 45% of the total.
