Why startup PMMs can’t go good research:

1. Got told about tomorrow’s launch, yesterday. No time to study market.

2. One analyst report could be your 1-month paycheck. No budget, pay out-of-pocket? Nah, save it for talk therapy.

3.You’re *the* research analyst, in-house. Gamble on Google Search. Bing if you’re a rebel. A silent prayer for no ad-articles or paywalls.

Harder to research today with less: time, $$$ for reports, dedicated help. Might just say “skip that”, but good research fast-tracks internal credibility.

5 simple steps how I used two AI prompts to do that, in less time:

1. Know your product category, #1 differentiator (e.g. visibility), and one buying champion persona

2. Buy GPT subscription, $20/mo (expense it)

3. Ask GPT: What happens if [buying champion] when doesn’t have [differentiator] available in [product category]?

4. Then say: “Give me five relevant stats from last few years, each with a working link.”

5.Validate info and fine-tune, as needed.

Jarod
talks more about this on We're Not Marketers 💀. Sidestep paywalls and still get credible research. Like he said: "That sh#t is fun!"

Episode JUST dropped on Spotify and Apple, hear him cook and dish out more GTM recipes.

But if you can’t listen now (too busy researching), here’s a step-by-step how I did the above: https://lnkd.in/dfgTSxMi

Because research builds credible PMMs. Don’t skip out on that.
