Where is my beloved link building community going?

Recently, someone from a big brand requested me to list their tool to one of our listicles. Unfortunately, we don't prefer AB / direct link exchanges I said.

After that, the person sent me a dm, saying that they would remove our tool from one of their listicles that we built via ABC link exchanges and asked me to remove their tool from our partner website.

I told the person that please don't do that. We can't remove your tool from our partner website now and this sounds not good to us. Anyway, I was planning to list their tool to one of my partners' website into similar listicle so that we can make another ABC link exchanges.

But today, they sent over the exact same request through a different connection, and I immediately checked the status of our previous link that we built via a 3-way link exchange, you know what - they did exactly what they said!

I know some big brands do direct link exchanges. Anyway, every company has its own strategies. If any brand doesn't want to do direct link exchanges, you shouldn't force them to comply or destroy any previous collaborations that were built smoothly, no matter how big your brand is (DR80, 90 or more)

If this practice continues, the link building community will be flooded with bad intentions - trust me. Please save this lovely community, don't be narrow-minded - one link won't make you a millionaire overnight. There are tons of websites that you have never reached out to.

Be respectful to others; this isn't just about links, it's about lifetime relationships. Don't destroy it. If you do, you'll regret it. Let's grow together.
