When I was doing my MBA at NYU, I asked my friend (he hailed from Tech) why was he trying so hard to get into sales and trading jobs on Wall Street. The reason I asked was that he was a kind, laid back guy and his persona did not fit with my image of traders.

He said he wanted to do it for few years so that he could make enough money and then retire or live a slow life. I asked him if he knew anybody who had actually quit after making some money and we both smiled.

He got into the Wall Street role but next time I knew, he had gone back to Tech companies in a strategy role.

Last time I checked with him, he just said, “Sometimes we need to get what we think we want to realize what we actually want”.

This post is not about any job or industry, it is about - well you decide what it tells you :)
