"We show up in ChatGPT!" Cool. Are you actually recommended? 🤦‍♂️

Wil Reynolds just published the most honest take on GEO KPIs. His point: in AI search, "visibility" can lie. ChatGPT can name your brand and still tell people to look elsewhere. Wil calls this the anti-recommendation.

In SEO, we had a formula: search volume × CTR = visits. Visits × CVR = conversions. Conversions × value = ROI.

In AI search? Volume, personalization, CTR: no idea. Visits: about 1/20th of SEO. Conversions: low.

So what should you track instead?
💎 Content that humans share, not just content that algorithms surface
💎 Mentions in the trade publications that show up in AI fan-outs
💎 Mentions from the people AI already trusts in your niche
💎 Your top 10 prompts, run 20x each, as a momentum signal rather than a final KPI

Look at what's on that list: PR, great content and real authority. Good old fundamentals.
Another 50 AI listicles aren't on it.

If your GEO report is a screenshot saying "you appeared in 34% of prompts", what decision does it actually help your CEO make?

Huge kudos to Wil Reynolds for writing this up. Link in the first comment.
