Voice AI Agents are becoming scam for outreach calls.
In the US, an AI voice call can trigger TCPA damages of $500 to $1,500 / Per call.
In India, that same minute of AI costs โ‚น2 to โ‚น4 โ€” with no consent required.

There are more critical flaws here:

1/ Cost. An India-tuned sarvam stack cost 4 rupees a minute. The premium global stack most US platforms default to 2-3x of that for AI processing alone โ€” before telephony even enters the math.

2/ Complexity. Nearly every platform โ€” Indian ones included โ€” is three services duct-taped together: speech-to-text, an LLM, text-to-speech, wired over a phone line. Every hop adds delay which result into bad communication

3/ Capability. Ask any of them what happens when the agent checks an order mid-call. Most freeze, fire the request out to your code, wait, and resume โ€” dead air, papered over with a filler line. Everyone else pays for the gap twice: in latency, and in tokens.

4/ Over-engineering. So the market pays premium prices and premium complexity for calls that never needed either โ€” confirming a COD delivery, nudging an EMI date. That's not capability.

5/ Acceptance: Nobody prefers a bot for a hard conversation โ€” humans win that everywhere, including here. In a recent study, 84.7% prefer a human, and even if they're promised their issue gets resolved, 80.1% still prefer a human. And satisfaction backs it โ€” human agents score 4.5/5 vs 3.9/5 for AI chatbots.

I am still not sure on what we are selling with Voice AI Agents - Speed & Cost efficiency with more grumbled customers?
