Update: I got my refund from MakeMyTrip. It took over a month.

Not because they wanted to make it right. Because I filed a complaint in Consumer Court.

(This is Part 2. If you missed Part 1, read it here first: https://lnkd.in/gbJ57W2F)

The story in short:
On 11 March 2026, I cancelled my IndiGo flight โ€” 24 hours before departure โ€” due to a medical emergency. MakeMyTrip accepted the cancellation on their platform but never actioned it with the airline. IndiGo marked me as a "no show." Refund received: โ‚น800.

What followed was over 30 days of:
โ€” Three different agents, zero continuity โ€” Two reference numbers, zero resolution โ€” Copy-paste responses: "validating," "diligently working," "will get back to you" โ€” Support tickets closed without reason โ€” multiple times โ€” Every single agent acknowledging in writing that my cancellation was valid and on time
Calls. Emails. Twitter. LinkedIn. All ignored.
So I filed a complaint with the Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission.
Within days, the full refund was initiated. It just reflected in my account.
One month of silence, broken in days โ€” by a legal notice.
What every traveller in India should take from this:
โ†’ When you cancel on any OTA, call the airline directly to confirm if it was actioned. Never assume the platform did its job.
โ†’ Document everything. Agent names. Reference numbers. Timestamps. Screenshots. That paper trail becomes your evidence.
โ†’ Consumer Court works โ€” and it's free. File online at edaakhil.nic.in. No lawyer needed. The moment I filed, I heard back after a month of silence.
โ†’ Loyalty means nothing if the system is designed to outlast you. I'm a Platinum customer. It counted for nothing โ€” until I escalated legally.

A month is a long time to chase money that was rightfully mine from day one.
I'm sharing this because most people give up somewhere in that month. The process is deliberately exhausting. The silence is deliberate. The ticket closures are deliberate.
Don't give up. You have rights. Use them.
