Until yesterday, I considered myself fairly knowledgeable about technology and fintech. While traveling, I made several purchases and paid at multiple stops using Nabil Bank's Fonepay service without any issues. However, after returning to Kathmandu and trying to make a few more purchases, I was shocked to see an error message saying I had reached the maximum of 10 transactions per day.

Seriously, what kind of logic is this? If I want to buy 10 different items from 10 different stores in a single day, do I really have to wait until tomorrow to spend my own money?

Who is responsible for this bizarre limitation? Is it a directive from Nepal Rastra Bank ? A policy from Nabil Bank ? Or is Fonepay imposing this restriction? This level of control over how frequently I can make digital payments seems absurd.

We’ve been encouraging digital transactions and cashless systems, and yet, here we are — being punished for actually using them. I’d really like to know which genius decided it was a good idea to cap transactions like this.
