This is best explained by OpenAI's Codex team:
"The big difference (in AI use) comes from mindset. (AI) works best when used with an abundance mindset: try everything, even multiple times. See what works. Save time."
First, as adults, we are pigeonholed into having a scarcity mindset i.e.
(1) In school/college, there was a stigma associated with asking questions
(2) At work, there is a (social) cost of asking others for help
(3) In general, knowledge came with a price i.e. you sat on your arse to read a book, you paid to speak with a consultant or mined your network for a connect.
The friction was real, costs were high. Hence, adult knowledge workers became pros at budgeting & prioritization.
Now, AI has made knowledge, information & insights - cheap, abundant & real time - on your mobile phone.
The switch required is:
(1) "should I (ask, share, clarify)" → "I will..."
(2) execute in sequence → execute in parallel
The funny way one of my colleagues described this is - MD (Managing Director) Mindset - make 'em (AI system & human team) grind hard to get the work done.
➡️ This abundance mindset switch is still WIP for me - but has been very helpful in prompting!
