Two weeks ago, I read Prathap Suthan's post about how Gen Z communicates. Spot on. Didn't realize HOW spot on until we opened up an internship role at Often.

We were hiring an AI expert and being enthusiasts ourselves, we decided to use AI to both make the post and automate part of the process.

We first published about it:
- Made our AI Trippy a character using GPT-4o
- Created a talking video about it using Hedra

And set up an automated process:
- Got their CVs via WhatsApp using SendPulse
- Our AI conducted brief vibe-check calls, set up on ElevenLabs
- They had to submit a simple automation assignment to demonstrate basic skills (the candidates had to use Make - we even offered $10 to purchase API credits if they needed something external like Firecrawl)

This three-step filter was designed to assess what we consider essential: communication skills, basic AI agent understanding, and agency.

The idea was to fast-track them to the final interview the moment they completed the assignment

What happened in reality?

Most assignments were clearly faked. Instead of investing 30 minutes to learn something that could provide a competitive advantage for YEARS, they decided it wasn't worth the effort.

Their reactions when asked for screenshots were the fun part. A millennial would have either completed the task properly or ghosted us. Instead, many responded - some confessing outright, others explaining it was too much effort for a one-time application.

This perfectly illustrates what Prathap's post observed: A teacher questions why their essay is three days late and smells like it was written by AI. They turn into a TED Talk. 'I had a personal setback that disrupted my schedule. Thank you for your patience during this time.'

You really wanted to vibe instead of work. You're starting your career at the perfect time in history. That's all you need to do. And honestly, if you choose not to learn how, you're cooked.

P.S. This position is still open. Link to apply in comments.
