There's one SEO opportunity that's hiding in plain sight on most ecommerce sites.

No, it's not technical.
And no, it's not anything to do with backlinks.

It's the copy you're using on your category pages!

Most brands either leave this totally blank or write a few lines for the sake of it.

But with a bit of thought, you can turn these pages into long-tail traffic machines!

Here's why this works:

🛒 Category pages often have a lot of authority.
🔑 You can target lots of long-tail queries naturally.
📈 They already bring in lots of traffic but could do so much more.

What to do:

1️⃣ Use GSC to find queries that already show impressions for that page.
2️⃣ Add 200-300 words of helpful copy above or below the product grid.
3️⃣ Answer questions that customers are already searching.
4️⃣ Include product names and variations naturally.
5️⃣ Avoid keyword stuffing. Keep it helpful and readable.
6️⃣ Add internal links to subcategories or buying guides.

We've seen this work well for ecommerce sites.

It helps with rankings.

It increases the time users spend on your category pages.

It improves relevancy signals.

Don't treat your category pages like placeholders!

They already rank, but could be better.

They can convert at a much higher clip.

They just need a little more attention!
