๐Ÿš€ The Milestone Revolut India was waiting for : RBI Grants us Full PPI Licence

Iโ€™m thrilled to share that Revolut India has now received full authorisation from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to issue Prepaid Payment Instruments (PPI), including domestic prepaid cards and wallets with UPI integration.

This is a pivotal moment for us. In less than a year since our in-principle approval, weโ€™ve achieved a landmark regulatory milestone that allows Revolut to operate as a domestic payments provider in India.

It is a mark of honour, and I am grateful to the RBI for the same. We shall strive to deliver on the high standards set for us, and that we hold ourselves to.

The PPI license builds upon our existing licence from the RBI to operate as a Category-II Authorised Money Exchange Dealer (AD II) and offer multi-currency forex cards and cross border remittance services.

What This Means for India:

๐Ÿ”น Seamless, Unified Finance: Indian customers will enjoy domestic UPI payments and prepaid cards from the PPI licence, and international spending from the AD II โ€” under one brand, with Revolutโ€™s signature transparency.

๐Ÿ”น Trust & Innovation Validated: The RBIโ€™s approval reflects confidence in our ability to deliver secure, compliant, and customer-first solutions, tailored for Indiaโ€™s flourishing digital economy.

๐Ÿ”น A Step Toward Financial Empowerment: This licence accelerates our mission to make both cross-border and domestic payments faster, cheaper, and more accessible for millions.

I am incredibly proud of our dreamteam โ€™s dedication in getting us to this milestone, while working on developing our world class product in parallel.

The future of payments in India just got more exciting ๐Ÿ’ซ
