Recently, I had an appalling experience with SpiceJet Limited that left me shocked—and deeply concerned about passenger rights in India.
At the boarding gate, just minutes before departure, the airline staff began weighing cabin luggage. My total cabin weight, including my laptop bag, was 8kg! Despite being reasonable and common by most airline standards, they demanded an additional payment.
After some back-and-forth, I agreed to pay - But then came the shocking part:
They said I could only board if I deleted the video I had recorded of the incident.
I refused to delete the video. And they denied me boarding!
This is harassment and a clear abuse of power. If charging for 1kg extra was legal, why were they so afraid of being recorded?
DGCA India Airport Authority of India – incidents like this deserve investigation.
Air travel in India cannot be allowed to turn into an unchecked power trip.
