Want a quick Googlebot Smartphone emulator that loads a page with a tall viewport?
Go to Chrome Dev Tools > Settings > Devices > Add a Custom Device. Then add:
Name:
Googlebot Smartphone
Width:
400
Height:
4500
* Google crawls w a 9000px tall viewport, but it's gonna be tiny to check. 4500 should be enough in most cases -- adjust if you want/need.
DPR:
2
User Agent String:
Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; Android 6.0.1; Nexus 5X Build/MMB29P) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/125.0.6422.113 Mobile Safari/537.36 (compatible; Googlebot/2.1; +https://lnkd.in/ea3xvGyn)
* If you need, change the Chrome version to the latest. I like to keep a few versions behind.
I also select "Mobile (no touch)" from the drop-down so I can use the mouse pointer behaviour.
This setup will allow quickly to test websites on a lenghty viewport spoofing Googlebot Smartphone UA. It's not flawless, but helps.
