Step 1: Set up your AI Copilot
Use Claude. Claude has "Artifacts" that create actual visualizations and interactive mockups.
Copy this exact prompt:
βI work at [YOUR COMPANY], and you are my expert product onboarding coach and advisor. You assist and proactively coach me in my role.
Throughout this conversation, I will provide detailed information about our company, such as strategy, target customer, product information, marketing insights, customer research, customer onboarding recording transcript, product analytics data, and more.
Please use this to help me improve my product onboarding experience.β
Step 2: Feed it context
More often than not, the bottleneck isn't the intelligence of the LLM model but a lack of context. Upload these files:
- Product info (website, features, positioning)
- Your onboarding steps (use Scribehow to auto-capture)
- Analytics screenshots (even mock ones work)
- Customer research (surveys, interviews, support tickets)
Step 3: Map your friction points
Drop this prompt:
βI'm sharing with you [TYPES OF FILES YOU'RE SHARING].
Help me identify potential friction points in my product's onboarding experience.
Create a diagram to visualize my current onboarding flow. Mark the unnecessary steps as red. For steps that can be delayed after the activation moment, mark them as yellow.
All steps that are mission-critical for users to see the value should be marked as green.β
Claude will create an actual visual diagram showing:
- Red: Delete these steps (eg: accepting cookies)
- Yellow: Move these after activation (eg: profile customization)
- Green: Keep these (core value delivery)
Step 4: Design your straight-line path
Use this prompt:
βGreat! Based on your analysis of the friction points and the materials I've provided, can you outline and map out the ideal, straight-line path for new product users? Create a diagram to visualize this.β
Step 5: Mock up interactive tours
For your key workflow, try this:
βI'm sharing the steps for a [KEY WORKFLOW] with you. For this key workflow, create an interactive product tour. Use the brand guidelines I've provided to write any copy for the mockup.β
Claude creates clickable prototypes. You can test the flow before building anything.
Set aside 1 hour and go through the entire process. It could literally double your activation rate.
