Or are they ?
We’ve been thinking about this exact question quite a bit recently internally.
As Reddit & Quora show for a bunch of SEO searches these days …
My opinion ( For now ) is that this very well could be a fad simply.
Affiliate SEOs are already making Reddit threads complete garbage ( Who can blame them, Google wiped them out hard .. )
And simply, Google might well decide to demote this type of content in the future.
If anyone might have forgotten…
But Google use to HATE forum content 2-3 years ago ( Which wasn’t long ago … )
Indeed, it use to be one of the easiest hacks to rank quickly
→ It was just to target a keyword where Reddit / Quora ranked, and often you’de be ranking within a few days/weeks
Some content websites we’re actually built on this exact same model of just replacing Reddit/Quora for ad sense.
So right now, trying to rank in Reddit / Quora feels more so to be a distraction than a actual gain imo.
If we think about the 80/20, trying to hack Reddit really feels like a short term distraction…
Might well be wrong, and perhaps forum’s will be a big part of “giving users what they want” on search.
But for now, I’de simply double down on Google SEO & YouTube SEO.
