If you use Claude Code, you need this plugin.

Meet claude-hud β€” a plugin that puts a real-time heads-up display right in your terminal. No extra windows. No interrupts. Just always-on visibility into your session.

Here's the problem it solves:

Claude subscriptions has a 5h and 7d usage limit. Without knowing where you stand, the agent can get cut off mid-task. Before this plugin, you had to stop what you're doing, type /usage, and interrupt your flow just to check. Now it's always visible in one glance.

But usage tracking is just the start.

Context management is everything. As your context window fills up, AI accuracy drops β€” a nearly full context gives you noticeably worse responses than a lean one. claude-hud gives you a color-coded context bar (green to yellow to red) so you know exactly when it's time to compact or start a new session.

You also see at a glance how many CLAUDE.md files, rules, and MCP servers are loaded. No more wondering why the agent is behaving differently β€” you can see exactly what instructions it's working with.

And the tool activity line? It shows every Bash, Read, Edit, and other tool call happening in real-time. You're no longer guessing what the agent is doing behind the scenes.

I highly recommend trying it out if you’re experiencing any of the pain points mentioned above.
