Then I will buy from an AI over a human sales rep.
That day is pretty close to here today already.
The AI sales rep already:
- is available 24x7
- knows product cold
- doesn’t lie or make stuff up to close a deal
Many think this is silly … but most of those that do haven’t bought software is a while themselves, or used a great AI in this context yet.
Go try to buy a routine piece of SaaS software. See how painful it is, how long it takes, how hard it is to get the precise answers you need for your own flow and use case.
Are the tools here today? Not quite. But they will be soon. If we had the quality of dev teams working on OpenAI and Cursor that are working on AI AEs, the products would already be great.
But they are coming soon. Some will enhance AEs, and make them Mech AEs, for sure. Some will create agents that make humans better.
Other products will run basic sales autonomously, but kick up exceptions and other issues to humans. AI support already works this way pretty well.
And some products, some will basically enable AI to handle 90% of sales on its own. This will require highly transparent pricing, the ability to truly one-click cancel, and the ability to auto-onboard in many cases.
But many founders will choose to build the latter.
Even if you disagree with this, realize it’s already here in coding, in support, even in SaaStr’s own AI. And things are getting so, so much better in AI every single day. The rate of improvement and change is like nothing we’ve ever seen in B2B and SaaS.
