I am an entrepreneur today because of my father.

People often ask me how I became an entrepreneur, and I always say it’s because of my father. He was the first to see the businessperson in me.

My family was settled in Guledagudd, but my father made the big decision to move us to Bangalore for my education. He always said, “Education is the only thing worth spending money on.” He didn’t buy me a phone or anything fancy, even when all my friends had iPhones. I remember during my CA internship, I kept asking him for one. His reply hurt me: “Sell your mother’s jewels and buy it.”

That moment hit hard, but it also sparked something in me. I told myself, “I’ll buy that iPhone, but on my own.” So, like any other school or college kid with zero capital, I started reselling tickets for sports events and other stuff. Within a few months, I made a good profit. With that, I bought my first second-hand iPhone.

I think that’s when my father saw the entrepreneur in me. And that’s probably why he lent me ₹10L to set up my CA practice.

My journey started because he believed in me, even when I wasn’t sure of myself.
