How I find mentors on LinkedIn

Back in 2021, I launched a book funnel, but didn't know how to run ads.

So I went to one of the biggest advertising agencies to get a quote from them.

$25,000 for a 3-month commitment.
(Not including ad spend)

I thought, wow - I'm not spending that.

So I went on LinkedIn and looked up a bunch of advertisers from top performance agencies and sent them a simple message:

"Hey, do you do any paid consulting?

I've got a book funnel, I want to learn how to advertise, and based on your history, you seem to know what you're doing."

Not everyone replied, but a few did.

A couple of calls later, one guy offered to coach me for $100/hour.

8 consulting hours and 2 months later, I was spending $1,000/day on ads on Facebook & Instagram. It wasn't directly profitable, but I was breaking even, and I made the real profit off of people looking for 1-on-1 email marketing coaching after going through my funnel.

This approach works for pretty much anything.

Last year, I wanted to learn how to run enterprise SaaS sales for our product listing automation app, descrybe.io.

I had calls with BDRs that used to work at companies like Copy.ai & Jasper, and learned how to sell to enterprise-level clients. Currently, our smallest client is doing $200m per year in revenue.

LinkedIn is by far my favorite platform to find people to learn from.

So if you want to learn anything, just use the search bar at the top of your screen to find cool people.

And then just... ask them to teach you.
