Housing societies, dogs, electric cars and bachelors!

In 1995 when I came to Mumbai from a small town, my dad asked someone from neighbourhood to come to Mumbai with me. He helped me to settle down at my 1 BHK apartment at IC Colony, Borivali. This good samaritan went back terribly sad about the size of the rooms.

Since then I lived in many societies and served as a Hon. Secretary at one. And I got to learn unique psychology of apartment dwellers. Sometimes I wonder if small size of rooms has anything to do with the space in our hearts.

1. Apartment dwellers have a pathological need for security. They dont allow their kids to cross the roads outside the boundary wall of their society. Their flats are more important than the Iranian nuclear setups. Vulnerable and exposed. In the society meetings the items that find universal support are about security.

2. Humans staying in apartments dont like dogs. Period. They think dogs are serious threat to our kids. Creatures who are hated more than dogs are those feeding or caring for dogs.

3. Of late in the list of things that apartment dwellers hate, there is a new addition. Electric Cars. People seem to believe that electric cars are going to catch fire now or later, so keeping them away is the best solution.

4. Only thing that are hated more than dogs, dog feeders and electric cars are animals called bachelors. Since apartment dwellers are born married, they consider Homo Bachelors a different species. Drinking at home for Homo Marrieds are allowed. But for bachelors drinking indicates moral turpitude. And worse, bachelors seem to not adhere to the sanskari lifestyle. Hence, good luck finding a place if you are one.

Do you hate electric cars, dogs and bachelors? If you do, please dont take this too seriously. Its just a lighthearted rant. ๐Ÿ˜€
