"But Shuaaaaannnnn, my idea is SO amazing, I can't let anyone steal it!"
Great. But no self-respecting investor is going to sign your NDA.
And even if they did…what are you going to do if they break it?
Send them a strongly-worded email?
Maybe file a lawsuit in your spare time between working 80-hour weeks?
Spoiler: If you have the resources to chase down NDA violations, you probably wouldn't need to be raising funds in the first place.
Think about it: you’re a startup founder, not a lawyer.
Your time and energy are better spent perfecting your product, building traction, and not wasting it on paperwork no one cares about.
So ditch the NDA. Just send the pitch deck.
You’ll come off as professional (for real this time) and might actually get a meeting or two instead of being the person everyone avoids because they don’t want to sign a legally binding document just to hear about your AI for grilled cheese app.
Trust me, it's not worth it. Let the idea speak for itself.
