Amul India upped its protein game. Are they any good? 🧐
Applying first principles, my GOLD standard to recommend protein products:
1. Calories From Protein (CFP). The higher, the better. Anything below 50% is BAD because other macros dominate.
2. Carbs/Protein (CP). The lower, the better. Anything above 0.75 is BAD. Means, you are eating carbs, not protein.
3. Price/Protein Grams (PPG): The lower the better. Obviously. One big challenge in India is the cost of protein.
Applying CFP/CP/PPG to AMUL Range⬇️
❤️Love these:
1. Amul Whey Bars➡️ 78%/0.14/Rs 3
2. Amul Protein Paneer ➡️ 57%/0.15/Rs 1.5
3. Amul Protein Milk ➡️ 62.22%/0.57/2.83
4. Amul Lassi/Buttermilk ➡️ 56%/0.5-0.8/Rs 1.67
😡Hate these:
1. Amul Protein Milk Shake ➡️ 30%/2.5/Rs 4
2. Amul Protein Dahi ➡️ 37%/0.4/Rs 2.8
3. Amul Protein Shake ➡️ 58%/0.95/Rs 2.5 (Better to Have Amul Lassi/Butter Milk)
Also, Love what else Amul highlighted (could have been highlighted better)⬇️
1. India is Protein deficient. India is at 0.6 grams, 25% deficient. That’s a lot❤️🩹
2. 0.8 gms is the minimum recommendation, not optimal. AMUL recommends 1.0 grams. I think this is still low. My recommendation: 1.5 gms🙌
Applying PD Gold Standard, guess the following product truthfully. Hint: India’s most marketed protein bar ➡️ 21%/1.5/Rs 7.75
The right answer with the brand tagged will get a complimentary Amul Protein hamper🥂
‼️Disclaimer: This is not a paid post. Pure admiration. And gratitude. Every other protein brand, BEWARE, BE AWARE. Really🙏
PS: My 2 cents to all protein companies: if you are a serious protein player show the AA profile. Without AA, it's incomplete.
