Especially in B2B marketing, where nuance matters.
One post says, “We generated 300% pipeline growth in 30 days.”
Another claims “$1M ARR from one LinkedIn campaign.”
Another claims "We fired 90% of our staff with AI."
Nearly all these posts lack context:
1.) How did you measure those results?
2.) What stage of growth is your company in?
3.) What's your ACV, sales cycle, and audience?
4.) Are you in a growing category?
5.) What other programs are running alongside it?
Some posts are so outrageous that there is simply no way they are true.
And many times, you see the same people agreeing and applauding simply because they are friends.
I think we owe it to ourselves to reflect on what we just read and ask for a follow-up or two, as there is always missing context. (even if you are friends
You can say more than "I agree", "congrats", "awesome job", "say it louder for those..."etc.
You can also ask probing questions to gain more context without being combative, so you can better apply any learnings/insights to your business.
Be skeptical of what you read and always ask for context before believing anything at face value.
