2 years ago, I almost gave up my ISB admission. This week, I graduated as an ISB Torchbearer Awardee.

Life surprises you in ways you can’t imagine.

I had secured an ISB admit back in 2019 through the Young Leaders Programme route.

Back then, I had envisioned a career in finance, and an ISB PGP fit right into that plan.

But after entering journalism and becoming an anchor at NDTV, I felt an MBA wouldn’t be worth the time and money I’d have to invest. I didn’t want to leave journalism or take a study break when things were going better than my expectations.

So, why did I go to ISB?

Due to some organizational changes at NDTV, I had to leave. It wasn’t something I had planned—it all happened very suddenly. I didn’t want to work at another TV news channel, and the future of broadcast journalism itself seemed unstable, with no channel truly unbiased, free, or honest.

I went to ISB initially as a ‘backup’. I thought: if I ever have to leave journalism—now or later—an ISB degree and the network I build there will help me pivot to new roles and industries. I didn’t go to ISB with the goal of getting a job, but with the goal of creating future opportunities I could tap into when needed.

The Indian School of Business gave me all that that, and so much more.

More than growing as a professional, I’ve grown as a person.

This journey taught me that life won’t always go as planned. You’ll be challenged. You’ll be surprised. What happens is not in your control, but to make the best out of whatever happens is fully in your control. I came out as a stronger and more resilient person.

Honored to receive my ISB graduation certificate from Dean Madan Pillutla
, former ISRO - Indian Space Research Organization Chairperson Dr. S. Somanath, and Chairperson of the ISB Board Mr. Harish Manwani.

This journey wouldn’t have been possible without some incredible people. Grateful for alums like Aditya Sood
who were quite literally always a call away, and for friends and professors who formed my constant support system.

Thanks to everyone who’s been a part of this phenomenal journey.

Watch this space for what’s next :)
