2 months ago, I started dating a doctor.

I wanted to marry her. Now, I don't know.

She graduated from CMC Vellore, the 3rd best medical college in India. Now she is a resident at a hospital in Bangalore.

In the last 2 months, I have flown 4 times to see her, and all trips went the same way.

We'd plan around a 12-hour shift the night before I land. I'd have the list ready, the Hard Rock Cafe she kept mentioning, a drive to see the Chikmagalur coffee farms, one proper dinner at Blue Ginger.

In reality, she'd end up doing a 16-hour shift, so all 4 times we ordered in, she fell asleep by 9 and I sat there watching her sleep.

This 4th trip, she got called back to the ward on her off day. I spent Sunday alone at her flat. She came back at 11pm, said sorry before she'd even put her bag down.

I run a company, so I kept thinking my life was the demanding one. But I work remote. I can move a call. I can take a slow morning after a bad night. She has a roster. Nobody asks her anything. Her week is just decided.

Also, I don't understand why she apologises so much, and for no reason. I mean, she has slept 4 hours, and she Is the one saying sorry?

She obviously loves the work, and I am proud of her, but I keep telling her, don't work in India. India runs its hospitals on the exhaustion of its doctors, and then asks them to say thank you for the opportunity.

Last night she told me she wants her kids to be doctors too.

I cannot do that to my kids, so now it's complicated.
