According to the company, fraudsters compromised an employee's office phone and laptop.

Then they used deepfake technology, profile cloning and impersonation to pretend to be one of the company's directors.

The employee believed the instructions were genuine.

₹10.7 crore got transferred.

Later, the company verified with the director...

He had never given those instructions.

The company also says that, based on what they know so far, there is no indication that its IT systems, network, customer data or employee database were compromised.

Crazy how a ₹10.7 crore fraud can happen without the company's core systems being hacked.
