Even though I had Arts in school and BBA in college, I wanted to get into coding.
So, I taught myself how to code in Python, JS, SQL, and some frameworks (PyTorch, HuggingFace, TensorFlow, etc).
Eventually, I ended up working at companies like AIcrowd and Koo in the process.
A year into it I realised that coding wasn't for me and I jumped right out of it.
Now most people fear the idea of getting started and shifting gears early on, but getting out of programming was one of the best decisions I made.
There was no peer pressure because I barely went to college. Plus, my family barely knew what I was up to.
I was young, I had time and I didn't value money much.
If I had continued that route, I wouldn't be doing things that I love (like making videos at Marty Martin).
Every week I get to talk to people back from my college. They have regrets, of not changing their major, amongst several others. They were afraid of being called fickle-minded.
It's heartbreaking to see people in their early 20s have regrets. So, if you are reading this, please don't shy away from making decisions, no matter what stage of life you're at.
Do whatever makes you happy in the long run.
