I distinctly remember I was given Rs 1000 as a weekly allowance for my commute from Dewas to Ujjain for college which included bus and auto and Rs 500 was half of that amount!

But today, it is a common practice in us youth to not think twice before splurging 500! From coffees, food, cafes, movies, popcorn, expensive creams, face wash and what not! You name it, it's highly likely that it might be priced around 500

On the front page of TOI, there is this campaign by Flipkart which definitely is a 10 on 10!

1. It is in the form of Monopoly- I loved that game not only was it super fun but also taught about optimisation of money at a very early age.What did you like the most while playing Monopoly!?

2. It focuses on how almost all of us without thinking much spend up Rs 500

The crux being the significance of Rs 500 which it tries to showcase for rather joining Flipkart loyalty program also priced at Rs 499!

From a marketing standpoint, the campaign draws a sharp contrast of mindless 500 spending to that with Flipkart VIP which gives a host of benefits and hence justifies the ROI!
