The Nirma Story!

💡 Remember tuning to the jingle "Doodh si safedi Nirma se aaye, Rangeen kapda
bhi khil khil jaye. Sabki Pasand Nirma."

👉 Karsanbhai Patel, an employee at the Gujarat Govt’s Dept of Mining & Geology
as a chemist, once noticed that the Indian detergent market was becoming a
playground for MNCs.

This is when Karsanbhai started Nirma, making detergent powder in the backyard
of his house.

👉 He carried packets of this handmade detergent on his bicycle & started
selling them door-to-door.

🔺He also implemented the ‘money-back’ guarantee policy to all his customers to
compete with MNCs.

🔺Nirma detergent was sold at INR 3/- per kg, due to which it started to attract
much attention alongside the other reputed brands & became popular among
housewives.

🔺After selling it for 3 years, Karsanbhai inaugurated his first shop in his
hometown, Ahmedabad.

🚺 Well, to popularise a brand it is important to name it, isn’t it? The
yellow-colored detergent from Patel got the name ‘Nirma’ after his beloved
daughter, Nirupama, who passed away in a car accident.

🔺The lovely lyrics and the rhythmic music of the brand Nirma popularised the ad
too.

🔺Nirma employs over 25000 employees & has a turnover of 20500 Crores.
