Simple ideas are often the most powerful

When Malcolm McLean thought about a simple box, he did not himself realise that
his invention would tip the world in a new direction

Stuck regularly in traffic on coastal road highways, he came up with a simple
idea. Today the shipping container has helped shape geopolitical landscapes
making some nations the hub of international trade and changed centuries-old
professions.

All because an ex-trucker wanted a simple idea to avoid traffic jams

That’s not to equate simple to easy - sometimes putting simple ideas effectively
into practice is the hardest thing there is.

The shipping container required a change in how global logistics were handled,
how shipping was planned and even how ships actually got built (they used to
come with rounded hulls earlier)

But today most of the global trade has been altered in a relatively short period
of time!
