𝗜𝗳 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟬 𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗮 𝗥𝗼𝗮𝗱 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗽...

It starts with one of your friends cancelling on you at the last moment. Before
you leave the city limits, your vehicle breaks down. You find a mechanic who
charges you half your trip's budget. You get the car fixed and continue.

Google Maps tell you to take a detour. You take it. The recommended route is not
a road, but what is left of it. A little while later, you catch a thunderstorm
despite no warnings on the weather app. Cursing your luck, you brave on.

You are famished by now, but every restaurant along the way is shut because of a
sudden strike. You survive on Parle-G biscuits.

You somehow pull yourself together and reach your destination only to find out
that the hotel you had booked has been cordoned off because of an outbreak in
the region. You are shelterless. You swear loudly in your mother tongue.

As you rest your head on the dashboard, thinking that things couldn't get any
worse, you start feeling a little feverish. You don't swear this time. You sob
gently.

So here's to 2021 being a newer, better road trip - with friends who don't
ditch, cars that run, roads as good as runways, restaurants with cheap buffets,
free hotel room upgrades and good health.

Happy New Year!
