If you want to create more connections, start building something!
A client of mine was struggling to get in touch with people in her industry.
She was sending emails, InMails, etc. but no one was biting.
When she came to me, she said, “I just don’t know what else to offer or what
other approach to take.”
Many of these people didn’t have a major online presence so our options were
limited.
After brainstorming, we decided to try a podcast.
Instead of starting the relationship from zero, she could start by positioning
them as an expert.
She asked people for a 30 minute interview where they could share their advice
and expertise on a specific topic.
Guess what happened?
Pretty much everyone she emailed said yes!
But it didn’t stop there.
After every interview, her guests would ask:
“Is there anything I can do for you?”
That gave her an opportunity to share her story and her goals.
She landed multiple referrals.
So why did all of these people who used to be too busy to reply suddenly find
time in their schedule?
Because we created value for them, we positioned them as an expert, we gave them
a platform, and we put them first.
If you're struggling to get responses, if you don't know what "value" you can
offer, try starting something.
Create the value for yourself.
