If you want an opportunity at work, do this:

1. Do what you say you're going to do.
2. Have a plan B in case your employer doesn't see your value.
3. Create a new job for yourself.
4. Be humble in your approach.
5. Do good work.
6. Know the customer better than anybody else.
7. Be proactive rather than reactive.
8. Be patient.
