How many times have you heard the word 'no' today?
'No' is our reality in sales. Every. Single. Day.
The hard truth is you hear 'no' more than you hear 'yes.'
For those that stick around, you learn that 'no' isn't always a bad thing.
I got comfortable with 'no' the second I realized sales is a two-way street.
We all can say 'no' (even me) and that’s okay.
The key is trying to understand why.
There are bad 'no's' and good 'no's' and knowing how to differentiate is key.
How?
“Seek first to understand, then to be understood.” - Stephen Covey
Being intentional about the business you're doing is key.
Understanding what good business looks like, your ideal customer profile, and
qualifying to no quickly gets you to the promised land of yes a heck of a lot
faster.
On top of that, knowing what to do with each 'no' is what really matters.
Just because it's a 'no' today, doesn't mean it's a 'no' forever.
Don't fear the 'no.'
Lean in, understand it, embrace it, and learn from it all the while being
gracious and humble.
Remember my formula for success that has yet to work against me:
Right work + right people + consistency = success
