I have about 1/5 of my marketing spend on Capterra. It generates quality leads.
GetApp that is owned by them too generates less quality so I have manually
tweaked each category to have lower bids. Google Search ads are still the
biggest winner for us.

For a software company -especially saas, capterra is a great place to get leads
that convert.

As mentioned previously, it completely depends on what category your SaaS fits
in to as they aren't super specific.

We've been using it for Villo, a Visitor Management System, and we've actually
had some really good leads come through. It also depends what your brand/product
strategy is - for example, if you want to be able to build trust on your brand,
I think Capterra is great as it not only gives you the badge to put on your
website to show you are on there, but there are also customer reviews that
potential customers can look at - I personally trust those more than pull quotes
that people put on their own websites.

My only negative about it would be the bidding adjustments. There seems to be no
real "strategy" around what to adjust these to and seems quite hit and miss -
e.g. I recently doubled our bid amount and saw our conversion rate double - even
though we'd been targeting the same countries the month before and were still
bidding fairly competitively

Reviews play big part in SaaS purchase journey. Don't confuse it with Top of the
funnel traffic.

Capterra leads are absolute trash... just bad fits that make no sense. Depends
on your category though... the issue is their categories are terrible and not
specific enough. In our case, we're an e-com based app and our category is the
same as brick and mortar stores... which makes absolutely no sense.

G2 is the scumiest pay-to-win extortion operation on earth. They want thousands
of dollars for virtually nothing. Their platform is basically a way to keep the
biggest, most VC backed players on top of every category.

We’re getting conversions (trial sign ups) marketing on Capterra. I agree with

Melissa Kwan

that their SEO is great and it’s a good platform to build credibility. The trial
sign ups we’ve got from Capterra tend to be from good quality companies rather
than individual tyre kickers.

We just started a profile on there and have gotten some leads. Their SEO is
great so we appear on the first page of Google when people look for us, good for
credibility. We don’t buy ads on there, but a software company I know that’s
fairly large gets 90% of their leads from Capterra which is why we started a
profile. It’s free and they give your first 100 reviews $25 gift card to submit
a review.

G2 wants thousands upfront.

In 2020 we returned £16 for every £1 spent on Capterra. It's a great source if
you're a lesser known competitor to someone much bigger – as there's little
traffic of your own for them to steal.

My two cents for you right now. Focus on one funnel. One offer. One user path.

Minimize and find your success points first.

Don't do it. Buy the same search and click direct on google ads for half the
cost. All they are doing is bidding up the search you want then selling the
click back to you. And also promoting your competitors on their site.

I am curios about g2. Tried capterra ppc for 3 months, just got bad leads (and
low volume)
