Before you create a piece of content, go to Google and perform a search for that
keyword or topic.

Look at the top 5 results, open them up and make sure you read through them.

Your content needs to be better than all of them.

If you can create a piece of content that is objectively better, then you
deserve to be number one.

Of course, it's not that easy. You still have to rely on Google to move your
content higher up in the search results, but aiming to be number one should be
the starting point for any new piece you want to rank for.
