As we step into 2021, here are a few basic things that I follow for crisis
management. Hope you find them helpful.
1. HAVE PATIENCE:
In such situations, it is important to "PAUSE", "BREATHE", "THINK" and then
"ACT". Patience for a minute or ten (depending upon the situation) certainly
saves further damage.
2. ASK THE RIGHT PERSON:
It is extremely important to ask for advice from the right person. You never
know, the "right" person could well be "you". If you want to approach Mr X,
think about what he will say when you go to him for an advice. Maybe, you
already know his advice. So, go ahead and take an action.
3. TRUST YOURSELF:
Your organisation has appointed you and has entrusted upon you certain
responsibility. But in crisis, it is important to trust yourself. A mindful
decision taken by you would certainly work. Trust your gut and act.
4. CLOSE THE LOOP
When you have taken the required action and the crisis is managed, it is
important that all the relevant stakeholders are informed of the problem and the
solution taken.
5. DON'T QUIT!
Don't hesitate from taking an action. When you think of quitting, think why you
started.
With a hope that you never encounter crisis in your life, have a Blessed New
Year 2021!
